Gaming Consoles

Console: Wii
Model: RVL-001:
Color: black

This was the first ever home console I ever received :)) i got it for christmas one year and while it wasn't my first experience with a nintendo console altogether (that was the ds lite), this was the first time i was able to witness how video games could also count as a form of social interaction. I remember owning a lot of shovelware games for the system, because at the time I did not know what games were considered "good", and neither did my parents. And even if they did they probably wouldn't have gotten them for me anyways, considering they had their own preconceived notions regarding what games a young girl would enjoy. However, my dad started using it at one point and I remember he picked up Twilight Princess used from GameStop. That was my first exposure to not just zelda as a franchise but also games that were capable of telling a story. While I was definitely not mature enough to progress significantly in the game at the time, I remember I would walk around Ordon Village and fish, pet the animals, and play with cuccoos for hours at a time. While people have their complaints about Twilight Princess' long and tedious tutorial it provided so much enjoyment for me as a 7 year old that I can't find it in me to legitimately criticize it. i

Console: DS
Model : Lite
Color: Metallic Rose

My first ever real gaming device and still probably my favorite! I got the metallic rose one for Christmas and man was it a game changer for me. up until this point I had watched my older cousins play video games at their house, as well as played numerous flash games, but this was the first time that I had something of my own and it made me feel so mature. Most of the games I played weren't that notable looking back as they were mostly toy tie-ins and cheaply made dress up games, well, except for one. STYLE SAVVY! This game was monumental for me and is still one of my all time favorites. I remember I was just learning to read at the time and so to a younger me, it felt that there was an immense amount of dialogue. In many ways this game helped teach me how to read. While I had played many dress up games before this one, none had felt as modern or as detailed as this one, and introduced me to many different styles that were oftentimes absent from western games. Its sorta funny because I feel that I did not fully appreciate the wide variety of styles at the time, but since playing it as an adult who especially loves alternative and j-fashion, I feel that I get so much more out of it now than I ever did then.

Console: XBOX 360
Model : Slim
Color: Black

Got this during the height of Minecraft and ngl it was like the only thing I would play on there during that time. My first ever experience with Minecraft was through my cousins introducing me to it on their xbox 360 around 2012 when console edition was just released and became so utterly obsessed with it that I begged my parents for an xbox. I ended up getting it for Christmas, and lowkey this was one of those purchases that was just as much for my dad as it was for me. Even now he is the main person who plays it in our house (not minecraft though, usually fallout). I have so many fond memories of coming home from school and playing online with my cousins and creating cluttered and tacky looking buildings, or even playing myself especially in the tutorial worlds.

Console: PS Vita *
Model: PCH-2000
Color: Light blue & white

: got this as a birthday present for myself almost two years ago and as someone who primarily grew up with nintendo, this was like opening up a whole new world for me. I primarily got it because its easy to hack and would allow me to play sony games that I had always missed out on. I love that it has bluetooth and its so convenient to download games on here compared to my 3DS (not to say the 3DS is necessarily inconvenient in that regard,). Its through this that I ended up getting really into Project Diva and more visual novel type games. Also I adore the design of the vita. I was able to get mine in the light blue and white color, which I believe is a japanese exclusive, and man is it gorgeous. Also another plus is that region locking isn't an issue like it is with pre-switch Nintendo consoles
